Three hours is a long time to stand, play music, and keep an audience engaged. That’s what I do on Thursday nights at Anthony’s.
With more than 120 original songs and a good selection of covers, I have plenty of music to draw from. The real challenge is fatigue.
I want to do more than just play songs. I want to perform. That means staying focused, connecting with the audience, and giving it my best from the first song to the last. It takes energy, concentration, and a lot of hard work.
And I think it’s paying off.
People are showing up not just for the great food at Anthony’s (best soul food west of the Mississippi!), but also to hear me play. That means a lot to me.
I’m humbled and honored whenever someone comes out specifically to hear my music. It reminds me that all the hours spent writing, practicing, and learning to become a better performer are worth it.
To everyone who has come out to listen, tapped a foot, sung along, or stopped to say a few kind words afterward: Thank you. Your support means more than you know.
And if you haven't made it to Anthony’s yet, come on out! Great food, live music, and good people. What’s not to like?
