Iโm beginning to think the answer is no.
Feedback is an important part of my songwriting. Sometimes another set of ears catches something I've missed. Sometimes a suggestion opens up an entirely new direction. And sometimes, feedback simply confirms that I am on the right track.
At least for me, songs tend to evolve over time. A different approach. A new instrument. A shift in focus. Maybe just a little tweak to a lyric, a chord, or the melody.
What started as one idea can become something quite different along the way.
I am finding that, at least for me, the trick is knowing when to keep working on it and when to let it go. But Iโm learning that a song doesnโt have to be set in stone just because I've played it a few times. Or even recorded it.
Sometimes the best thing I can do for a song is give it time, invite a little feedback, and stay open to what it might become.
Thatโs part of the fun of this songwriting journey. You never know when an old song might have something new to say. ๐ฅ
