Ever walk into a guitar store and feel like half the world gets all the choices while you’re left staring at the leftovers? Welcome to life as a left-handed guitar player.
Being a lefty has it's challenges.Â
For starters, guitar tabs seem backward to me. Sometimes learning a song feels like trying to read a map upside down.
But the biggest challenge? Finding a guitar I like.
Most guitar shops, big or small, might have one or two lefties. Right-handed players get an entire wall to choose from.Â
I’ve even had to order a guitar online, something I hate doing. A guitar is personal. I want to hold it, feel the neck, and hear how it sounds before spending my money.
I get why stores stock fewer lefties. Only about 10–15% of people are left-handed, so it’s a business decision. But most of us aren’t Jimi Hendrix. We can’t just flip a right-handed guitar around and call it a day.
So the hunt continues!
